Clay Club - Term Two 2024

Following a successful first term of Clay Club, I’m offering something similar again at Slabb Studio for those interested in making their own ceramics. Weekly two-hour sessions will be offered for a group of three or four people on regular days (most likely Wednesday evening 6.00 - 8.00pm or Sunday afternoon 4.00 - 6.00pm) commencing on Sunday 28th April. The sessions are intended for people with no or limited clay experience.

Equipment in my studio that can be utilised include an extruder (excellent for making vases) and a slab roller (to assist in making slab-built objects and tiles). I can suggest things that you might like to make, or you can come with your own ideas and I’ll help you achieve them.

Week 1: Making with clay (2 hours)

Week 2: Making with clay (2 hours)

Week 3: Continue making with clay or start applying colour to what you’ve already made with underglazes. (2 hours)

Week 4: Continue making with clay or applying colour to what you’ve already made with underglazes. (2 hours)

(Two week break to allow your clay vessels to finish drying and be bisque fired in the kiln.)

Final session: Glaze your vessels. (2 hours)

(Allow one week for your vessels to be fired in the kiln again and then you can come and collect them.)

Cost - The cost per person for a full term (5 sessions) of Clay Club is $350. This includes 10 hours of tuition, all the stoneware clay you should need, use of my studio equipment and tools, glaze and two firings of your vessels in my kiln.
